Research description: Dr. Thorne's research interests include the studies of environmental risk factors for asthma, the health effects of inhaled air pollutants, inflammatory lung diseases, endotoxin-induced immunomodulation, nanotoxicology, and novel methodology for exposure assessment to airborne toxicants. Dr. Thorne is Project Leader for Project 3 of the Iowa Superfund Research Program. He also serves as the Deputy Director of the Environmental Health Sciences Center at the University of Iowa.
