My name is Md Abu Eabrahim Siddique, but I go by Eabrahim. I was born and raised in a small city named Rajshahi, which was in the northern part of Bangladesh. I have received my bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. During my M.Sc thesis, I have worked on arsenic toxicity and tried to assess its adverse health effect on humans. My M.Sc thesis worked was focused on the respiratory effects of arsenic poisoning. I have repeatedly visited the arsenic-affected rural area in Bangladesh for my study purpose. There, I saw the sufferings of thousands of people affected by arsenic-induced chronic diseases, which captivated me to get involved in Human Toxicology Research.

After completing my M.Sc. thesis, I worked as a Research Assistant in the same laboratory and have continued my work on arsenic-related chronic diseases especially diabetics, adult cognitive impairment, and hypertension. I have good experience in manuscript writing and presenting as I was involved in publishing a total of 13 papers in different reputable journals. I want to join a Ph.D. program that will enable me to unveil the underlining mechanism of the toxic substances that induce chronic diseases.

I have found that the interdisciplinary nature of the Human Toxicology program at the University of Iowa matches my interest competently. Moreover, the distinguished faculty from diverse research areas and the cutting-edge research laboratories of the University of Iowa attracted me to choose this program. I am happy to become a part of the Human Toxicology family here at The University of Iowa. I believe a Ph.D. in Human Toxicology at the University of Iowa would prepare me well for my long-term career in human toxicology.

I love playing sports, traveling, tasting various foods from different countries, watching anime, and getting to know people from different cultures and countries.
