Dr. Jonathan Doorn of the University of Iowa Human Toxicology Department was awarded the prestigious John Doull Award at the 2023 Central States Society of Toxicology (CSSOT) meeting in October 2023. He has been a professor at the University of Iowa since 2004. He is currently the Department Chair/DEO of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of Iowa.

Dr. Doorn has been a member of the Central States Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology since 2005 and has served the Chapter in various roles: Secretary/Treasurer (2006-2008), Councilor (2008-2009), and President­ Elect/President/Past President (2009-2011). He is currently an Associate Editor for the journal Neurotoxicology and a member of the Neurotoxicology and Alcohol (NAL) Study Section. His research has focused on the mechanism(s) via which environmental pollutants, including organochlorines, cause neurotoxicity and serve as risk factors for neurodegenerative disease

John Doull is Professor Emeritus of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is author of the acclaimed reference book, Casarett & Doull’s Toxicology. He has won numerous awards throughout his very distinguished career including the Mildred S. Christion Career Achievement Award from the Academy of Toxicological Services in 2013 and the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology Career Achievement Award in 2014.
