Oluwatobiloba Da-silva
Hello! I’m Oluwatobiloba Da-Silva, and I'm from the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan in 2018 and 2022, where I first discovered my passion for toxicology. As an undergraduate, I joined the Drug Metabolism and Toxicology Unit under the guidance of Prof. I.A. Adedara and Prof. E.O. Farombi. That experience opened my eyes to the impact of environmental toxicants on the brain and sparked a lifelong curiosity. I built on that foundation during my master’s program by working on research projects focused on reproductive toxicity, neurotoxicity, and environmental toxicology.
I’m thrilled to join the Human Toxicology Program at the University of Iowa because of its interdisciplinary approach, supportive community, and the quality of research being led by faculty members across multiple fields which is exactly what I need to grow as a scientist and problem-solver. I look forward to improving my research skills, collaborating with peers and mentors, and contributing meaningfully to questions that affect both human and environmental health while learning from and connecting with the amazing community here.
I hope to become the kind of researcher who not only investigates problems but also creates impactful, real-world solutions. When I’m not in the lab, you’ll probably catch me testing a new baking recipe, wandering somewhere new, or chatting with anyone who’ll share a good story. Curiosity fuels both my science and my adventures.
