Md Yousuf Ali

Biography

I am from Bangladesh, a wonderful tropical country in South East Asia. I completed my bachelors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Chittagong. I came to the United States in 2015 and completed my masters from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville where I studied molecular and biochemical consequences of the reactive oxygen species produced in ovaries of wild type Drosophila melanogaster after exposure to sub-lethal amounts of ivermectin.

The major focus of my research interest has been toxicology and cancer biology. More specifically, I aim to study the mechanism of different xenobiotic/environmental carcinogen induced carcinogenesis and malignancies. In continuation to my research endeavor, I started my PhD journey with the Human Toxicology graduate program here at University of Iowa in Fall 2018. The interdisciplinary approach of the program with great researchers from different backgrounds helped me to choose this program for my doctoral study. I am really excited about the days ahead in this program.

I like traveling and writing. I also love to play soccer and cricket. I grew up playing cricket in the big yard of my home in Bangladesh. I believe being able to doing what I like to do as my profession and enjoying life is key to my happiness and livelihood.
