I am from a beautiful South Asian country, Bangladesh. I have earned my Bachelor and Master’s degree from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. In my master’s thesis, I was involved in a large epidemiologic study on the health effects of arsenic toxicity, where we tried to find out the epigenetic changes caused by arsenic poisoning and its relationship to the development of chronic diseases.

During my master level research, I had to frequently visit arsenic affected villages in rural Bangladesh, where I saw the sufferings of thousands of people affected by arsenic-induced cancer, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory complications, and other ailments that really intrigued me to involve in Biomedical Research. My main research interest is to unveil the mechanism of carcinogen induced chronic diseases using different cellular, molecular and immunological technique. As part of my goal, I have started the doctoral program in Human Toxicology in Fall 2018 at the University of Iowa. The interdisciplinary nature of the program, distinguished faculty from different research areas and the state-of-the-art research facility of the University of Iowa enticed me to choose this program. I am very happy to become a member of the Human Toxicology family here at The University of Iowa.

Apart from my academic life I am also a sports enthusiast and I love to play cricket, soccer, badminton and any other games for fun.
