During my undergraduate studies I majored in cancer biology and when I was looking for appropriate graduate studies I became most interested in the Ph.D. program in “Human Toxicology” at the University of Iowa. Toxicology is a diverse and highly interdisciplinary scientific field that imparts knowledge from basic natural sciences and medicine and therefore perfectly met my interests.

Current research description: 

My PhD project focused on the evaluation of the thyroid disrupting potential of sulfated metabolites of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) through interactions with the thyroid hormone transport protein transthyretin (TTR).
