Nelson wins Graduate Research Excellence Award

Human Toxicology PhD student Andrew Nelson was awarded the University of Iowa Graduate Research Excellence Award in Biology, Life, Mathematical and Physical Sciences for 2016.

This award honors students in terminal degree programs conducting research and scholarly activity that is recognized as highly original work and makes a significant contribution to the field. Along with the recognition he  will receive a $1,000 cash award and a commemorative gift.

Nelson's work focuses on naturally occurring radioactive materials associated with unconventional drillinmg for natural gas. His mentor is Professor Michael Schultz.

He will be formally honored at the Graduate College Celebrating Excellence dinner and awards ceremony at the Coralville Marriott Hotel on April 13, 2016.
