Sabine Vorrink Returns from KC Donnelly Externship at University of Arizona

Sabine Vorrink recently returned from her KC Donnelly Externship at University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:

Looking back, the three months in Tucson passed by very quickly. I loved working in Dr. Futscher’s lab and I was so busy that time just flew by. Even though we had to jump many hurdles during the project, I had a wonderful experience and I learned many valuable techniques and research skills. The Futscher lab has been a tremendous help in troubleshooting and making this project a success and it was great working with everybody in the lab. I also worked closely with the Genomics Shared Service Core and learned about their techniques and workflow. Overall, the project was a great success and we were able to get very helpful results that I can use for my research.

Despite the time I spent in the lab I was able to experience Tucson and to get to know a wonderful city in the desert. The warm weather and beautiful landscape of Tucson spoiled me during the cold Iowa winter months and I was sad when I had to go back to the Midwest.

The KC Donnelly Externship at the University of Arizona was an amazing experience and I am very thankful and glad that I had this wonderful opportunity.
