Human Toxicology Student Success at 2011 CS-SOT Meeting

A group of faculty members, students, and post-docs from the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Human Toxicology and the College of Pharmacy traveled to Omaha, Nebraska, to participate together with other researchers from Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri in the Annual Meeting of the September 22-23, 2001 Central States Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology (CS-SOT).

This meeting, which also featured an invited talk by the current President of the SOT, Jon Cook, was a great success and several of our students won recognition for their research:

-A Best Student Poster Award was received by Sabine Vorrink (Hypoxia perturbs PCB126 Induced Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor Signaling) of the Rick Domann Laboratory.

-The Award for Best Oral Presentation by a Student went to Bingxuan Wang of the Gabriele Ludewig Laboratory, for her presentation “Regulation of MnSOD by the AhR agonist PCB126: The Role of Dietary Manganese.”

Also Selected for Oral Presentation was Xiaoyan Qin (Mike Duffel Laboratory) for her work about “Modification of Human Hydroxysteroid Sulfotransferase hSULT2A1 by PCB-Quinones.”

Congratulations to these deserving students!
